Everton are reportedly thai sbo considering a move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror, Everton are eyeing up a summer move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling as he faces the potential axe at Old Trafford.
The Mirror reports that Jose Mourinho is looking to sign a new defender during the coming window, and if he manages to get one in, the former Fulham star will be allowed to leave the Red Devils with the Toffees keen.
When he is on form, Smalling is arguably a very good centre-back and could be a very good addition to Sam Allardyce's squad after a campaign which has seen Everton's defence look very shaky.
However, the 28-year-old has not been consistent and that should be a concern for Everton as they look to build a first-choice centre-back partnership that can help them put this season behind them.
And perhaps the Toffees should consider one of the deals thai sbo that they did during the transfer window in January 2017 and how that has panned out before they jump at the chance to try and sign Smalling.
The Guardian reported last year that paid Manchester United £20 million for Morgan Schneiderlin, and few Everton fans would be able to argue that it has been a good piece of business with the Frenchman desperately struggling to make a positive impact in the Toffees side.
Like Schneiderlin, Smalling's United career has never quite seemed to hit the heights that many would have expected - though he has definitely done better than the midfielder - and that should perhaps tempt the Toffees to avoid going after another United player this summer, no matter how important it is that they strengthen their defensive options. thai sbo
